Amelia Theunis Rosamond
~ The Rimesong Rose ~
Born into nobility, Amelia is the middle child in a line of three; the others being her younger twin sister, Alexandra, and the older bro-ther, Liam. Shortly after the end of the Dragonsong War, with no cause to fight for, Amelia journeyed outside Coerthas alone for the first time in her life. The recommendation of an old friend saw her enlisting with the Maelstrom for a time, after which she resigned and took to travelling until her family duties called her back home.
Though she was never one to be satisfied with a life of intrigue, her obligations to her family saw her marry an Elezen from a rich, albeit commoner, family. A bit of a scandal in some circles, and a sign of progress in others, the act has only added to her responsi-bilities as the heir of House Rosamond; a title she seems to carry no love for.
Now, with the Ishgardian Restoration largely wrapped up, she seeks the thrill of travelling the roads of Eorzea once more to relish in what little freedom she has left.
Personality
Born into and raised in a family of nobles, Amelia attained a great sense of duty from childhood, and an even greater sense of pride. Having been known to rarely even crack a smile, Amelia gained something of a reputation amongst her own circles for being a bit of an 'ice queen' when dealing with nobility; any sign of weakness could be exploited, and so she worked towards showing no signs at all. Her love for her country is undeniable, though some might say she harbors feelings of distrust towards its government and clergy after the revelations of the Dragonsong War.
First impressions might have Amelia come off as purely professional, at times to the point she might seem uncaring; she seems to make a point of keeping people at a distance, and only rarely does she open up to others in the way a friend might do. More recently, she has begun to emerge from her shell to allow her emotions to show more freely, though she still keeps them in check; she continues to struggle with being entirely honest about her own feelings. Those who get past her icy exterior will find a loyal ally who cares more than she is willing to admit - both to herself and others. When her trust has been earned, it is usually there to stay.
Skills
Archery -- Archery runs in the family, and Amelia wielded a bow before she picked up the sword. Careful instruction from her father and a family friend sent her well on the way to mastering the bow and arrow, but it was the man who taught her the true meaning of hunting that firmly established her preference for the weapon.
Soul of the Bard -- While owning a soul crystal of a Bard - a parting gift from her mentor - she yet struggles to unlock the secrets within. Not always emotionally in tune with the crystal, she now seeks a way to become a Bard in more than name only.
Falconry/Birdkeeping -- With falconry having been a long-standing family tradition, it was easy enough for Amelia to also take a liking to larger birds - chocobo. Her family found a hatchling from a quality breeder that was deemed too weak to be used by a proper knight, and they invested in it to train it for hunting, instead. Valiance, named by Amelia’s sister, is now Amelia’s most trusted traveling and hunting companion. In addition to the chocobo, she is also the proud owner of a hunting hawk, who she's given the name Faith.
Hunting and trapping -- Amelia had a good start with hunting, but her skills saw great improvement through the teachings of her mentor, as well as a man her House employed when she was still a young teen. She still makes use of these skills often, now that her main source of personal income is adventuring and hunting, and as such, knows a great deal about wildlife in several areas of Eorzea.
Longsword and dagger -- Replacing the traditional shield of the Knights of Ishgard with a dagger for ease of use when hunting, Amelia has specialized in a style pairing the flexibility and strength of a longsword with the speed and utility of a parrying dagger. Often, she'll opt for more lightweight and balanced swords to better function with dual-wielding. The style, supposedly, was taught to her by her Bard mentor; meant to fight beasts, it trades the defensive capabilities of the shield in favor of allowing better movement to dodge.
RP Hooks
Amelia is, admittedly, not that easy to get along with at first, depending on who she's interacting with. If people can get past her initial standoffishness, she'll probably be more welcoming in terms of conversation. A few things that may spark RP with her:
She's a hunter, often hunting with either a chocobo as a partner, or with a hawk. Usually she sells the spoils from these hunts. She's a Bard, at least in name. In practice, she still struggles a bit with the warsongs, but either way, she does poetry and singing, as well as plays the harp.Quite a fan of birds!Nobility; her House acquired its status only a few generations ago, and is not exactly rich, but they are tied to the service of House Haillenarte. Amelia's own father and brother have been part of the Rose Knights, and she was enlisted for a few years, herself, before she left Ishgard.Former Maelstrom soldier; she was part of the Whorlbane Wayfarers, a Maelstrom squad mainly based on land. She made it to Corporal within the military, but eventually resigned. The squad then proceeded to disband due to the leader's misconduct.
Always feel free to send a /tell ingame or approach her in RP. I can also be caught on Discord (Cat#9167) for planning things if that's of interest.
